I have found great fulfillment in my life through my employment as a Hospice RN. It is honourable work, but does not complete me creatively. Several years ago I was visiting Bolivia, and had my simple point and shoot camera stolen. Unfortunately it occured within hours of my arrival in La Paz, and I was unable to preserve some of the memories from that trip on film. But, when I returned home, and made my way into a store to purchase a replacement camera, I allowed myself to be wooed by a sales rep- and I ended up buying something I could not afford. A Nikon digital SLR. As I started to use it I found myself being seduced by the joy of not only seeking opportunities to take photos, but in looking at them afterwards, in printing them, in posting them on the web. So I give thanks to that man in La Paz, who stole my little point and shoot, and opened up a new part of the world to me.
I now have a way not only to preserve memories of my travels, but a way to document some of the immense beauty of this world.
I thank any of you who bless me by looking at and enjoying my little documents of beauty.
